It's more.

For me, this 5K race I'm training for is more then just a race.
I wouldn't even use the word race.
It's not even a race for me, per say.

It's change.

A desire, put into action.

A goal being worked on.

An accomplishment waiting to be had.

There are layers to every person and reasons they do things.
For someone like me, who's never run before,
to desiring to even run in the first place,
to training,
and finally accomplishing a running goal,
is monumental.

Monumental to all those who are training for it.

Monumental to me.

At every race there are people who are pushing themselves to their limits, or beyond.
To reach their goal.
To aspire for something hard.
To accomplish something they never thought they'd ever, ever do.

Also at the race, there are people on the sidelines cheering for those who are pushing themselves.

People who are there cheering for a specific person usually.

They are there for pure support.

They are there to encourage when a racer is feeling less then capable.

They are there to show they simply love and care.

For someone who is racing, it is crucial to hear the cheers.
It helps them to dig deep- to push beyond what they feel is hard.
In some cases I'm sure, where they feel they can not go any longer.
For a runner in a race, hearing the cheers from the crowd of unknowns is encouragement medicine.

However, to have your spouse and children attending, knowing they feel you're one of the most important people in their world, means more to the racer then one could possibly imagine.

I'd go as far to say it's PRICELESS.
