'The Forgotten Warrior' by Kathi Oram Peterson

Synopsis:
The Forgotten Warrior by Kathi Oram Peterson is an LDS fiction book written for young adults. The story is about Sydney Morgan, a black belt in karate, who is facing a difficult time in her life. Her mother is diagnosed with breast cancer, and her father hasn't been in the picture in years. She is worried about taking care of her mom, and her younger sister who is disabled, when suddenly she finds herself transported back in time. She quickly learns that she has traveled back to the time of Helaman and the Stripling Warriors. After defending herself against accusations that she is a spy, she finds herself training the warriors to fight in battle.
I had the opportunity to read this amazing and uplifting novel recently. It was all pleasure. Not only was is entertaining but it was heart-felt and inspiring. Children 8 years and up would enjoy this book being read to them- as I did with some of my children. It brings excitement and hope in one story.
Not only does the Book of Mormon come to life in this novel- but it brings our generation into it. Likening the scriptures to us was well done and accomplished by Peterson!
I enjoy having such good books as these available for my family to read.
I was especially touched at some of the insights given to me for strength and endurance. I walked away from this book feeling that our Father in Heaven has a work for each of us to do. We must remember that and seek His guidance in fulfilling our calling.
There is a sequel...which is good and bad! Good since there's MORE to come. Bad since you won't know the whole story...YET.
Thank you very much, Kathi, for sending me your novel, giving me this chance to read your work and share my thoughts. It's been fun!
