I hit the JACKPOT!!

I feel as happy as the guy in the above photo looks! I literally hit the JACKPOT!!

I have many friends of different faiths- so what I'm about to share may not be understood by all but know that it is of extreme value to me. With that said- I will share my news! {you will see a lot of exclamation marks from here on}

Holly, one of my best friends since before kindergarten, just gave me permission to do temple work for many of her ancestors! Okay- I can hardly contain my joy folks. The record book that she inherited when her father died, and recently given to her, is of her ancestors in chronological order from Circa 1582 until 1987! I believe it is over 71,000 names! Holly has handed this record over to me. Holly isn't of my faith. She doesn't believe or understand what I've shared with her on the subject but she knows that by handing these names over that it's a dream come true for me and that if what I have shared with her is really true then she says she will be forever grateful for my service to her ancestors.

What does this mean? This means the world to me and the world to these ancestors. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints- we, and I, believe that families can be together forever. That our Savior has a plan to connect us together. Linked together as a chain, if you will.

With these names- My husband and I- along with many friends in the gospel- will baptize, marry and connect these people as individuals and families -via proxy- through sacred temple ordinances. {Sacred ordinances of the gospel performed in the temples are for yourself and those who are dead. These ordinances include baptisms, confirmations, endowments, eternal marriages, and sealings of couples and of families.} Oh, the joy!

That is absolutely amazing. 71,000! I can't even wrap my mind around that.

You are so inspiring. If someone handed me 71,000 names I think I'd cry. I'm going to be starting a family history Sunday school class on Sunday though and I'm looking forward to finding this kind of passion. I am so impressed by you, Autumn, best of luck. Oh, and I love the photos! I got married in the Salt Lake temple in 93--good times.

I'm so excited to get this under way. Lots of work for me to do...but so worth it.

Josi- Good luck on your family history class. I think it could be over whelming but if you think about the purpose behind it all it makes a fire burn within. OH- I want to let you know I ordered 2 of your novels and will read them next! I'm looking forward to reading your style...you crack me up so much!

Tristi- your novels are on my lidt too...I wish i were a speed reader. My favorite books are historical fiction- and since that is your specialty...well I'm thrilled to dive in. ;) {See ya in a few weeks, girl! Don't be to nervous while you give your lecture at the confernce just because I'm in the audiance. hehehe}

That is so amazing, but you know what? I think that your friend is incredibly amazing because she was willing enough to hand these names over to you and even acknowledge that if you were right, she would be forever grateful.

Wow! Not many people are that open-minded. Good luck!

This is so wonderful! I can see why you're excited. And can imagine how excited all those recipients of the work must be. It will also help a ton of other researchers who are connected in some way but not yet showing as part of the family. What an excellent blog post.
